TO THE CHURCH IN PHILADELPHIA

The Lord Jesus our God rewards faithfulness.

Revelation:3.7
“To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name..11
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.

This letter is to you and I from the one who has to turn things around. To us because of our little strength and the little that we do. He says, He knows it all.

Can we relate to the plight of the church in Philadelphia? They had little strength because they were being persecuted. They couldn’t do much as a church because they didn’t have enough power to do much. Sometimes money and other resources stop us from doing much for the kingdom of God and even for ourselves and our society do not make it any easier. It is hard because we do not have much strength.

The good news is, the Lord knows and he says that,

1. just be faithful with the little that you are able to do. He knows it is from a good heart. He is coming soon and bringing his reward with him(Revelation 22:12). To the one who is faithful till the end, he shall give the prize of victory(Revelation 3:11-12). Your labor won’t be in vain.

2. He has opened a door for you(Revelation 3:8). A door no one can shut to help you through your struggles. He is making a way for you. He is dividing the red sea so you can pass through your struggles.

3. He loves you and will let the whole world know about that so that your persecutors will come and bow to you( Revelation 3:9).

4. because you keep his word even with your little strength, He will also keep you safe from the trouble set to come upon the earth(Revelation 3:10). You will escape the hardest times.

All you need to do is to keep on being faithful with the little strength, He will reward your faithfulness.
