THE TEN VIRGINS

Matthew:25.1-13
“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
Five of them were foolish and five were wise.
The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them.
The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.
The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
“At midnight the cry rang ……….
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

Ten virgins waited on the bridegroom but only five was successful in meeting the bridegroom. The extra oil they took prepared them to wait on the bridegroom. The five wise ones were prepared to wait on him for as long as it takes and that made them wise. They anticipated his coming and in wisdom, prepared themselves to meet him, the extra oil they took made the difference.

This extra oil could be a deep desire for God, patience, love or constant fellowship with God. It could be the extra things you go out of your way to honour God. The extra oil could also be the unwavering trust, believe and faith in Christ.

The extra oil could be the other things you are not doing to grow and increase capacity as a child of God, which you should be doing or it could be the things you are to stay away from in order to guard your heart(Proverbs 4:23).

How can you carry the extra oil? Make that wise decision now because it was the wise decision they took that made the difference.
