One of the many things we need to overcome everyday is fear. No one has ever lived without encountering fear but many have been able to overcome it. To begin the journey of overcoming fear, you need to know what fear is and what it can do.
What is fear?
Fear is the state of being afraid and having a deep sense of emotional alert towards something or someone. Whenever you encounter that which you fear, there is this emotional alertness and conciousness you experience.
Fear is actually backed by a spirit and that’s why it has the power to control you and the decisions you take. That’s why it is difficult to break free from it. Fear manifests in two different ways and this depends on the source of the spirit it is manifesting from.
THE FEAR OF GOD
As christians, the bible admonishes us to have fear for God, this is expected of every believer. This fear of God comes from the holy spirit. He helps us to honour God, revere God and love him. The fear of God enables us to obey God and please him. This is the ONLY fear you should permit as a christian. The bible says it is the begining of wisdom(Proverbs 9:10).
THE DEMONIC FEAR(NEGATIVE ONE)
It is written in the bible 365 times; do not be afraid! For we have not been given the spirit of fear but of power, love and sound mind(1 Timothy 1:7). This spirit of fear takes the place of power, sound mind and love. It means if you have this kind of fear, you become powerless as a christian and you struggle with being at peace and you struggle to accept God’s love. The bible says perfect love drives away fear(1 John 4:18). A powerless christian is a prey for the devil. This kind of fear is of the devil. He uses it to hold you captive so that you can’t fulfill your purpose and destiny and hence can’t live in the will of God. He uses fear to destroy destinies and lives.
I have seen many destinies crushed and delayed because of the spirit of fear and you don’t have to be one of them.
