THE PARABLE OF THE SOWER

Every farmer knows what to do with a good soil, plant some good seeds in them and patiently wait for the seeds to bud and grow into a plant that can bear fruits or a desirable flower. If the soil isn’t able to hold a seed and make it bud and grow into a plant, how useless that soil is to the farmer.

To live a valued life in Christ and enjoy it, we need to be a good soil for planting. Bearing fruits is paramount in our christian journey. Galatians 5:22-23 points out some fruits we need to bear as people living by the spirit. It mentions love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Now moving on to the next verse which is Galatians 5: 24, it says ; Against such, there is no law. This means our father expects us to show forth these fruits in our walk with him. These fruits actually helps us in our Christian journey because we can’t give love and show kindness if we don’t have it. It will be difficult to actually please God if we do not bear fruits.

We are known by the fruits we bear(Mathew 7:20). Now going to our anchor scripture which is Mathew 13:1-23, the farmer scattered his seeds and the ones that bore fruits were the ones that fell on good soil. The verse 23 referred to the good soil as someone who hears the word and understands it.

To bear fruits in Christ, you should be someone who spends time to know the word, understand the word through meditation and also practice and obey the word. Such a person is a good soil, and a delight to God because it bears fruits for him.

A good soil is a delight to the farmer just as a person who bears fruits is a delight to God.
