THE PARABLE OF THE GROWING SEED

Mark:4.26  He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. 27  Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. 28  All by itself the soil produces grain– first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. 29.As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”

With every crop, there is time for sowing and a time for reaping and every farmer knows this. The intention of every farmer who sows is to reap, so they all wait for the harvest time.

Now, harvest time is the season and period crops are due for gathering. Harvest time is joy for farmers as they expect to gather enough crops for profit. No farmer wants to work in vain so after sowing, they give it all the time it needs to grow and bear fruits.

In Mark 4: 26- 29, Jesus likens the kingdom of God to the story of a farmer who sows and awaits harvest time. Like this farmer, God has poured his words into us and awaits for the time he can harvest the produce of his words.

These words could be a purpose or vision or an assignment. He is waiting for us to put into work his words so he can harvest the yields. He is waiting patiently for the time we will be due, ripened and ready for harvest. What ever word he has poured into us is meant to grow and produce fruits for harvest.

So whiles you wait for him, do not stop growing and bearing fruits. He expects as to grow, spread and multiply for his profits. We wouldn’t be growing and bearing fruits forever because a time is coming when your fruits shall be harvested and it will all be over.

Unlike the farmer and his crops, we do not know when the harvest will take place so yield as much as you can to the glory of God.

Be a soil for the the growing seed.
