We learnt from our last post what the valued life is; we now know that the valued life is the new life we live in Christ. You also need to know the truth about this new life; the elements of the valued life. Walking in this knowledge is the truth that will set you free.
- One major characteristics of a person living the valued life is ‘righteousness’. You have now received the righteousness of God through the life of Christ to live the valued life ( 2 Corinthians 5:21). You can boldly say you are righteous because you are. You need also to consciously walk on the path of righteousness because there is life and immortality on that path (Proverbs 12:28). This is also the reason why we can not be condemned ( Romans 8:1-2).
- The second element is; you are now alive in the spirit and dead to the flesh ( Romans 6:11). You can not live the valued life in the flesh, for the desires of the flesh are against that of the spirit ( Galatians 5:17)). That’s why Galatians 5:16 admonishes us to walk in the spirit, that’s the only way we can stand against the flesh. Those who walk in the spirit have their minds set on what the spirit desires( Romans 8:5b). That’s the only way we can live the valued life.
- The third is; the element of ‘covenance’. Hebrews 8:10 says This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. “… I will be their God and they will be my people” . In the valued life we are God’s and he is ours. As ‘people’ of God our part is to obey God, this is the covenant we have with God and our part is to obey him. Therefore obedient is an important element in your walk with God and an important element in the valued life. Your obedience to God is your part of the covenant.
To be continued.
I will trust and obey for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus.
God bless you.
