As we celebrate Christmas, it is only right that we take time to study the birth of Jesus. There is no doubt that it is becoming more of a pagan festivity than it should be. Let’s make the difference by telling the story about His birth and understand it’s significance, let’s tell it so loud that the world would hear.
One thing stood out for me about the birth of Jesus, and I would like to share that with you.
Just before Jesus’ birth, Joseph and Mary had to move to Bethlehem to take part in a census(Luke 2:1-7), which in actual sense was in fulfilment of prophecy.
Micah:5.2
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”
Jesus had to be born in Bethlehem! God is really amazing. Whatever He says comes to pass! The census was a divine way to bring Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem so Jesus would be born there, yet there were no rooms available for them. If they had stayed in Nazareth where they were, Jesus wouldn’t have been born in a manger but in a house. God obviously had a plan to have the saviour born in a manger, a place the shepherds could easily get to and relate to. Jesus is indeed our shepherd, with him we lack nothing! God didn’t plant you anywhere by mistake. Just like Jesus, God has a plan for us all and if we allow him, it will all be fulfilled.
After his birth, because he carried so much purpose and promise, the enemy saw him as a threat and wanted to kill him( Mathew 2:1-12). This is how every child of God is seen by the devil; as a threat. Are you wondering why you are under attack? Well it’s because you are a threat to the kingdom of darkness just as the one you follow was.
John:15.20
Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.
Just as Jesus’ birth had a purpose and because of that he was seen as a threat and even as the son of God was attacked, so are you. The enemy still attacked him, even until death on the cross. How much more you? The goodnews is, the devil has been defeated because this same Jesus conquered death and is now alive intetceeding for you and I.
As we celebrate Christmas, don’t forget that God has a plan for your life and because of that plan and purpose, you are always going to be attacked. The enemy will come for your finances, health, marriage, joy , peace, etc. He doesn’t give up. Don’t either, be on the winning side; Jesus’ side.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAVE PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR
