How? We ask this question almost everyday. How can I do this and that, how can I achieve this and that. How can I live the life that Christ has called me to live?
In Luke 1:34, Mary also asked this same question. The angel of God told her that she was going to birth our saviour(Luke 1:30-31) but she was confused because she was a virgin yet to be married.
Our present condition may not look anything like what God has in mind for us so it is okay to ask ” how can it be”. When you look around you, what you see makes it difficult to believe and it makes you doubt sometimes that anything good can happen.
But hear what the angel of God said. In Luke 1:35a,the angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. That is how it going to happen.
He continued in verse 36 saying, remember your relative Elizabeth, she who was said to be barren is already pregnant even in her old age. This situation also seemed impossible; she was old, probably passed child bearing age and considered barren but see what God has done. Look around you , remember and you will see some miracles around you too. There may be storms around you but look very well there are also some miracles too, some Elizabeths.
The angel of God said, ‘For there is nothing God can not do’. In the NIV it says ; For no word from God will ever fail( Luke 1:37). Be encouraged with this. No matter how bad it is, don’t ever forget this verse. Meditate, memorise and confess it. There is nothing God can not do.
Isaiah:55.11
so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
