Read this verse again, take your time and digest it in. This is the word of God and the word of God is true and Amen. You are fathered by God!
The highest form of relationship we can have with God is that of the father – child relationship. We have been called to enjoy this relationship with him through Jesus Christ whom we are joint heir with( Romans 8:17).
Like an earthly father loves his child, caters for and nurtures his child, so does God treats us. He corrects us just as our earthly fathers does( Hebrews 12:9 ). He protects us and teaches us the best way we should go. He cast his shadow over us so that we are known as his.
The child who draws closer to the father abides in his love. This child enjoys the father – child relationship than the child who draws away. God as our father loves us with an unfailing love, yearns for us with a jealous spirit( 2 Corinthians 11:2a) and desires a relationship with us.
We need to embrace this wonderful relationship with him. We need to draw closer to him as a child would a loving father because his love is the safest place we can ever dwell. We draw joy , strength and comfort from his love. His love drives away our fears, brings us peace.
Sometimes, just spend time loving him. Don’t be afraid of telling him everything( even tho he knows them all). Don’t get too busy to talk to him and don’t be in a hurry to leave his presence so you can listen to him. Allow him carry your burdens because he cares that much( 1 Peter 5:7 ). He can only be as real as you want him to be.
You are fathered by God. You are not ordinary. You are valued, so boldly live the valued life.
