BUILDING WISELY

Matthew:7.24-27
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

A building is only as strong as its foundation. If you want to build something strong that will last and withstand the test of time, you will have to pay more attention into laying a strong foundation. The foundation carries the whole building so it has to be strong enough to take the load. Any wise man would not ignore that.

The wise man is described in the passage above as one who hears the word of God and practices them. Apparently hearing the word alone does not make you wise, rather hearing and doing.

Doing what the word says is wisdom, and only fools despise wisdom( Proverbs 1:7b).

As we build our faith in Christ, let us not be too busy to know the right way to build which is to lay a strong foundation.

The best way to lay a strong foundation in our christian journey is to obey the Lord. Obeying the Lord also mean keeping his word and doing what he says. It means to have your trust firmly rooted in him so that we can do what he says.

How strong is the foundation of what you are building; the career, family and ministry. Are you building on hearing and doing? Or have you forsaken the instruction of the Lord? If we do not build on a strong foundation, everything will come crushing down.

Anyone who forsake the word of the Lord will be overtaken by calamity and will not stand the rest of time. Beloved, let us build wisely.

  1. Indeed if we do not build on a strong foundation, everything will come crushing down

  2. Christ is the Word and He’s our firm foundation. He’s the solid rock. I pray we don’t forsaken the word because calamity awaits… May God help us
