This post is for anytime you feel that you aren’t enough and anytime you feel empty. It actually happens to everyone at a point in life, the only thing is, you don’t have to stay there longer than you should. I hope this piece helps you out in those dark times
I would like to share with you two stories in the bible, the first is the story of Elijah and the widow at Zarephath and the second is the widow’s olive oil.
Elijah and the widow at Zarephath( 1 Kings 17:7-16)
This woman wasn’t only a widow, she had a son to cater for and she was about to finish her last meal and wait for death(v12). She must’ve been in a very dark place and felt empty too. She probably might have felt not enough for her son. This woman caught God’s attention so he sent his prophet to her. God asked her to feed his prophet(v9). Why would God want someone who had little to nothing share that little? Why didn’t God rather ask Elijah to bless the little and increase it? God wanted that little, even though the woman saw it as nothing and thought it was going to be her last meal, God saw an abundance.
The widow’s olive oil(2 Kings 4:1-7)
Another widow here but this time with creditors on her threatening to take her sons away( v.1). This must’ve been very devastating as well. When she went to prophet Elisha, he asked her what do you have? She replied “nothing at all …”. She actually had something, she had a jar of oil(v.2b) but she didn’t see it as anything. God was able to let that oil flow till there was no jar left to fill( v.5). It was from that one jar of oil that she had many jars filled with oil.
So you see, it’s okay to have little and feel “not enough”, you only have to learn to give it to God. He knows how to let abundance flow from little.
There is a way you give yourself to God in little ways which yields more for you.
