Who is Archippus?
This name was only mentioned twice in the bible, the first is in Paul’s letter to the Colossians where he admonished him not to neglect his duties as a minister and the second in Philemon, here he refered to him as a fellow soldier. From this we know that Archipus was a servant of Jesus Christ and worked together with Paul in preaching the good news.
Our concern today will be why Paul wrote to him saying ” And tell ARCHIPUS, Be sure to finish the task you were given in the Lord’s service.” – Colossians 4:17
Sometimes we all need to be reminded to stay focus, especially now that we see the end in view. Like Archippus, you also need to understand that you have a task to complete and that you wouldn’t be here forever. God has purposed for you an assignment even before you were born and on that you will give account. Many things wouldn’t matter on the day you are to give account.
So today just like Apostle Paul admonished Archippus, I admonish you; don’t be strayed away by the enticement of this world from your ministry. The very thing you are here for.
