God wants us to love him! He is our father and it pleases Him to know that we, His children love him.
It is written, love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength(Mathew 22: 36). God wants you to love him with all of you. Love would always be perfect if it is reciprocated.
Loving God first of all is loving Jesus because you can not love the father and hate His son( 1 John 5:1) This is how you can love God.
1. To love God means you first have to acknowledge that He exists and that He is ‘your God’. You will have personalise your relationship with him, believe that he exists and that He rewards those that diligently seek Him( Hebrews 11:6).
2. To love God is to trust Him and in His word. If you can’t trust God with your life, you can’t love him and if you want to love Him, you must trust Him.
3. To love God is to have a deep sense of honour and reverence for Him. You must have respect for His holiness( Leviticus 10:3) and for His name.
4. To love God is to obey Him. The bible says if you love me, you will obey my commands( 1 John 5:2-5). Obeying God’s is one way we can please Him and if you love God you would want to please Him.
5. To love God is to give to God and to anything involving the kingdom of God. Love is kind so whoever claims to love God, shows kindness and gives to God.
6. To love God is to serve Him. Serving God is doing his business and working in His house. Love serves!
7. To love God is to desire His presence. If you love God, you would always yearn to spend time with Him, you feel glad in His presence. David says I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of God… (Psalm 122:1). His presence should give you joy because you love Him.
To end this I’ll say ‘ loving God’s should be in all circumstances, not only when things are good but also in the not so good times and even in bad times.
